So.

Sorry that I didn't post for two days. Things have been pretty hectic around here, to say the least. Hectic, sad, happy, joyful, busy, invigorating, shocking. So much has happened. My friend in Virginia, Jessica, lost a friend in the Virginia Tech Shootings. I am sure they shocked all of you as much as they did me. I wanted to fly right over and cry with my friend for the person she would never see again. I once read in a book that you should pin red ribbons around your house and garden if someone close to you dies. So even though the school shooting was 4000 miles away, I felt the need to pay my respects somehow.

Besides that I have had at least a few thousand
pieces of schoolwork and meetings to attend and essays to write. It's all fun though. My national examinations (a hugely massive colossal 21 of them!!!!) start on May 10th so I am working hard for them as well. I had to go to a lecture yesterday about attending Oxford/Cambridge (most prestigious universities in the country) which I would absolutely adore to do but there's no chance I'd get in. No chance. Anyway...I just had time to snap a daisy. In this flurry of activity and schoolwork and terror in schools, this daisy seemed hopeful as its head poked above the grass. It almost seemed to be a sign. A sign saying "Don't worry. Don't give up." I liked this daisy. :)

And my favourite ever teacher Mrs. J is leaving at the end of the year. She's the best, so I'll savour the lessons we have left I guess. Hopefully I'll be feeling more upbeat tomorrow - just the things that happen in this world...they sometimes hit you with full force and remind you of the wrongs and evils. Don't you sometimes wish you could sit comfortably in a little bubble or in a field of flowers where everything could be hunky-dory? I have days like that. But we have to face it. Something I always tell myself, there is MUCH more good in this world than bad. Much. Let's dwell on that. :)

Oh Lulu. I was so hoping that you were just busy these past couple of days. I'm sorry you were touched somewhat directly by this tragedy. It's so hard to understand... But you're right, we need to focus on the good over the bad. It's the only way to keep going, I think. The bad can really way you down if you let it.

Beautiful photos. I love the sentiment of the daisy and the ribbon is just perfect. I know it's hard to lose a favourite teacher too, when they're such a source of inspiration. Maybe you can stay in touch?

I'm praying for your friend Jessica, you, and everyone else touched by what happened!

Your clarity in your photograps is awesome, well done. Love the dotty cup on the purple mat..Don't know why, just like it so much!

I am sorry for your friends loss. It is a terrible and sensless thing that happened at VT. My heart and prayers goes out to all who are affected by what happened.

Your right, there is much more good in the world than bad. It just seems though that all the media reports about is the bad. I love your photos in the post. Very appropriate and fitting for the mood.

There is a quote that comes to mind right now.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

Aw, Lulu. :( Yes, I would love to be safe in a little bubble or field of flowers. More than anything, I'd love that for my girls. But, you know what they say... you can't have true joy without knowing sadness, good without bad, etc. You know? Not that that makes anything okay. It does not justify the bad, but just know that when the days get better, things will taste even sweeter because of what (general) you've gone through.

I have to say that I think your little daisy may be one of my all time favorites from you. It may be a combination of the awesome photo & the words you wrote about it. Such a fantastic outlook on life, Lulu. :)

What a beautiful tribute image!
I've been thinking a lot this week about how nice it would be to be able to shelter ourselves and our families away from all the bad...but how impossible it would be.
Best of luck on all your end-of-the-year activities!
